Welcome to another edition of the Nelson Bays Primary Health fortnightly newsletter.

Nelson Bays Primary Health News:

It Takes A Village

Our “It takes a Village” expo held at Victory School Hall was a runaway success.

With over 50 exhibitors showcasing what they could provide in the way of community support, health professionals including nurses working in Primary Health Care settings, District Nurses, Public Health Nurses, Occupational Health Nurses and General Practitioners (and our Mayor!) were able to see the richness and diversity of what our city can provide in the way of support beyond clinic walls.  What a great night – a wonderful atmosphere of collaboration and optimism was clear amongst the over 200 attendees.

Anything we can do to promote patient self-management through enhancing community connections is really important to us.  Not only was it great for the practitioners, it was a great opportunity for the community groups to network amongst themselves – always good to know “who’s out there” !

Based on the excellent feedback we received – we would like to see this become an annual event – bigger and better each year !

Please let us know if you would like to be involved in the future as we would like to start a list to contact prior to the next event.

Students Against Violence

A group of local secondary school students have come together with common concerns about youth affected by domestic violence. They are currently establishing a region wide movement of youth coming together to stand up to domestic violence. The group has built a website with the vision of building around this resource. They are now seeking donations and sponsorship to pay for website hosting and promotion.

Please support Students Against Violence in their journey to support youth and promote a generation thats not ok with domestic violence.
