MEND
A FREE fun programme for kids commences in
October
Nelson Bays Primary Health, in
partnership with Sport Tasman, will be delivering the MEND
programme in the Nelson and Tasman region.
The MEND Programme is an
evidence based community programme for overweight and obese children
aged between 7-13 and their families. The multi-disciplinary
programme places equal emphasis on (M)ind,
(E)xercise and (N)utrition and
combines this with the ability to motivate parents and children to
(D)
o It!
The programme combines all the elements
known to be vital in treating and preventing overweight or obesity in
children, including family involvement, practical education in nutrition and
diet, increasing physical activity and behavioral change.

Developing an integrated Pain Management service
Review of existing services.
The DHB is undertaking a review on its pain service with
the intention of establishing a chronic pain
clinic. Nelson Bays Primary
Health has been asked to collate feedback from primary care
regarding what currently exists for pain management and/or what is
needed. The outcomes they are wanting is that persons assessed
as needing pain services have access to a sustainable and ongoing
pain service that is well integrated between the primary and
secondary sector.

Pregnant Women To Be Offered HIV
Tests
All pregnant women across the Nelson Marlborough region
will be offered screening for HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) as
part of the range of routine antenatal blood tests carried
out.
