Nelson Bays Primary Health News:

It's nutrition - but not as Nelson knew it

The BeWell Community Nutrition Service has received the region's top health innovation award, for creating a quality model of nutrition service delivery.

Their application was for the "Collaborating for Health Improvement" category.

The service was named the overall winner at the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board's Health Quality and Innovation awards thanks, in part, to the extensive consultation process conducted by dietitians Marion van Oeveren and Naomi Johnson.

"The way we set up the community nutrition service was all about working together with other providers and we followed a quite innovative and creative process to achieve this."

MEND

Mind Exercise Nutrition ... Do it!

Last month we distributed information on the MEND programme. MEND starts 13 October at Saxton Field. We had a  good response, but still need some more families for the programme.

Can you please remind your doctors and nurses to refer suitable families with overweight children (aged 7-13) to the MEND programme.

Phone 5391170 or email Marion.VanOeveren@nelsonbayspho.org.nz or use the link to download a regisration form.

MEND is an effective and very positive programme, please use this opportunity and help us fill the places.  This is a pilot programme and needs to have numbers to keep running in the future, so we need your help to get more referrals in.
